Join me on this fun and creative workshop making your own unique pure silk botanical printed scarf.
This workshop is great for introducing you to botanical printing and dyeing with silk. You will learn about preparing silk to be dyed, the types of botanicals you can use to create prints, mixing dyes and adding them before going through the dyeing process. At the end of the workshop you will have your own piece of silk to create a scarf or use however you would like (for example, it can be the basis for a nuno felted scarf, framed as a picture or used in any other craft projects).
All materials are provided, including the silk (approx 45 x 175 cm). The silk will be already processed for dyeing, so you can dive straight in. The fee also includes a simple lunch and refreshments throughout the day. You will also get handouts on how to prepare silk and other fabrics / fibres at home.
As we are working with dyes, please dress in clothing you are ok with getting splashed. It rarely happens, however, do be prepared. You may also want to bring an apron. You can also bring along any leaves from your favourite trees or from your own garden.
The workshop will be lead by PRF Creatives' Pauline Fraser who has been felting for over 10 years and is a member of the International Felting Association as well as being a member of the Spinners, Dyers and Weavers Guild (Tynedale Branch). She aslo works (well, plays) and experiments with natural dyes.
The workshop will take place at Stannington Village Hall, near Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 6EL
