Description
Create your own unique statement scarf combining silk and soft merino wool on this one day workshop.
Suitable for both beginners and anyone wanting to add nuno felting to their felting and craft skills, this day will be both instructive and full of promise for some delightful results.
"Nuno" derives from the Japanese word for cloth. In this process we will wet felt into the silk. As the wool shrinks more than the silk, we get some stunning results, creating a scarf that is both reversible and can be worn in different ways to give different effects.
All materials are provided including a piece of silk approx 45 x 150cm. The silk will be prepared and dyed before the day. A selection of colours will be available and requests for colours maybe made along with preferences for colours of wool.
You will learn about preparing the silk, laying out the wool, adding embellishments such as viscose fibres, creating your own pattern, the felting process and finishing off your scarf.
The workshop will be lead by PRF Creatives' Pauline Fraser who has been felting for over 10 years and is a member of the International Felting Association as well as being a member of the Spinners, Dyers and Weavers Guild.
A simple lunch will be provided, so please state if you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies.
The workshop takes place at Stannington Village Hall, just off the A1 south of Morpeth, Northumberland (NE61 6EL)
As we are wet felting, please wear casual clothing and bring an apron if you wish.
